"Over 25% of older adults in the U.S reported feelings of social isolation and lack of companionship."
-- National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS)

My Story
Heritagebridges.org was created due to my peculiar initiative in bridging the gaps between the young and old generations. When my grandparents immigrated to the United States in their late 70’s, I spent time with them and recognized the lack of empowerment and resources for elderly immigrants. The more curious I got about this stark problem, the more I researched. According to a 2018 study by the National Council on Aging, older immigrants face heightened social isolation and language barriers, with 65% reporting that limited English proficiency prevents them from accessing community programs.

What Do We Do?
Heritage Bridges is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving cultural diversity among communities. We hope to bridge the gap between elder immigrants and their communities. We provide resources and opportunities for elder immigrants to engage in their communities helps them overcome barriers, gain confidence, and lead more fulfilling lives! Heritage Bridges offers a variety of free programs to support this mission, with a particular focus on empowering immigrant communities to overcome language and cultural barriers. Our programs include weekly English classes that emphasize practical language skills for day-to-day life, classes for older adults to build confidence in navigating new environments, and workshops for families that celebrate cultural traditions.
